“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon
John’s quote was perfect. Even when others expected something different, he knew what he was thinking was what was right for him. Instead of answering the question in the expected way, he had a unique perspective for what he truly wanted in his life. Have you ever had this kind of moment in your life?
Many times in life, others will look to fit you into a category or a niche. Being strong enough to express what you really want and having the drive to accomplish it no matter what others say will serve you well as an entrepreneur. This will mean times when others are shaking their heads and telling you much the same thing – you don’t understand.
Sticking to what you know is right for you when others are telling you something different is part of reaching success as an entrepreneur. Be OK with others not understanding what or why you do what you do. Just make sure you have a vision with a well-constructed plan and guidance from those who have done it before to help you achieve your principle target.
